FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College shot over 55 percent from the floor and remained unbeaten in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a 75-51 win over Marian University at Sadoff Gym.
The Green Knights (5-4, 3-0 NACC) connected on 32 of 58 field-goal attempts, good for 55.2 percent accuracy from the floor. St. Norbert shot over 50 percent from the floor in each of the four quarters.
St. Norbert led almost start-to-finish, with a 2-2 tie the lone blemish. The Green Knights then scored 11 of the next 13 points to take control, with the run capped off by a
Mari Beltran 3-pointer for a 13-4 lead wth 4:10 left in the period. A
Chloe Gruszynski triple put St. Norbert up 20-10 late in the quarter before Marian split a pair of free throws to cut it to 20-11 after 10 minutes.
The Green Knights scored the first six points to start the second quarter to take a 26-11 lead on a pair of
Jessica Boerner hoops sandwiched around a Gruszynski jumper. A
Mary Cravillion 3-pointer pushed the St. Norbert lead to 35-17 with 2:03 left before halftime, with a Boerner basket just beating the buzzer for a 37-19 halftime score.
Marian would trim the deficit to 10 at 40-30 with 7:22 left in the third quarter, but St. Norbert would rattle off six points on baskets from Boerner,
Olivia DeCleene and
Kaycee Gierczak for a 46-30 advantage with 4:57 left and the Green Knights were never threatened after that point.
St. Norbert had four players reach double figures in scoring. Boerner finished with a team-high 16 points. DeCleene filled the stat sheet to the tune of 13 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots in 27 minutes.
Emma Morrisey added 12 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Gruszynski had 11 points and six rebounds.
Marian shot 32.2 percent (19-for-59) from the floor and was 5-for-26 (19.2 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Paris Harris led the Sabres with 17 points, while Claire Levendoski added 14 points.
