Green Knights Stay Unbeaten in NACC

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will head into the holiday break with an unbeaten record in Northern Athletics Collegaite Conference play after a 64-46 win over Rockford University on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Sports Center.

The Green Knights improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the NACC and will not play another conference game until Jan. 4.

St. Norbert got off to a quick start, taking an 8-1 lead just over halfway through the first quarter. Olivia DeCleene drained a 3-poitner, followed by a Jessica Boerner jumper. Rockford then split a pair of free throws, but Chloe Gruszynski's conventional three-point play with 4:40 left in the period put St. Norbert up 8-1. The Regents cut the deficit to 8-5 before St. Norbert went on a 9-0 run, with DeCleene and Gruszynski getting hoops, followed by a Casey Jepson 3-pointer and a Kaycee Gierczak basket for a 17-5 lead. The Green Knights led 17-8 at the quarter break.

The Green Knights led 27-18 midway through the second quarter before going on a 7-0 run. DeCleene had a pair of free throws and a jumper followed by a Gruszynski 3-pointer for a 34-18 lead. St. Norbert led 34-20 at halftime.

Rockford (4-4, 2-2) trimmed its deficit to 11 at 40-29 with 4:40 left in the third quarter, but Emma Morrisey's 3-pointer and Gierczak's conventional three-point play put St. Norbert ahead 46-29 with 1:38 left in the period. The Regents didn't get closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

St. Norbert shot 44.2 percent (23-for-52) from the floor. DeCleene led the Green Knights with 16 points, while Boerner added 14 points and Gruszynski 12. The Green Knights had 20 assists on 23 made field goals.

Rockford shot 36.7 percent (18-for-49) from the floor. Anaya Davis led the Regents with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
