DE PERE - St. Norbert College hit a big milestone by rallying for a 4-3 win over Augsburg University in a non-conference game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights, now 10-3 overall, hit the 10-win mark before Christmas for the first time in school history. The most St. Norbert had previously won before the traditionally holiday break was six, accomplished on three different occasions.
Margaraet Wohlleber's goal at the 4:14 mark of the third period snapped a 3-3 tie, scoring off an assist from
Eve Parker. The goal would hold up as the game-winning marker, as Augsburg had an extra attacker on for the last 1:20 of the game but didn't score.
Augsburg (4-6-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a goal fro Carleigh Drill at 9:40 of the first period and a marker by Jenna Gerold at 57 seconds of the second period. St. Norbert responded with a power-play goal by
Morgan Olson at 6:00 of the second period, her 15th goal of the year. Wohlleber then scored at 9:34 to tie the game at 2-2.
Gabby Holtz then scored unassisted to put St. Norbert up 3-2 just as a Green Knights' penalty expired. Augsburg tied the game at 3-3 on a shorthanded goal by Kensie Malone at 14:52.
Parker had two assists to join Wohlleber with multi-point games.
Augsburg outshot St. Norbert 30-29, but
Brynn Waisman made 27 saves for the Green Knights. Mara McClain turned away 25 shots for Augsburg.
St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Augsburg was 0-for-4.
