MINNEAPOLIS - St. Norbert College fell behind and didn't recover in a 3-1 loss to Augsburg University in a non-conference game in the opener of a two-game series at Ed Saugestad Rink.
The Auggies took the early lead when Gavin Holland scored at the 3:34 mark of the first period. Holland added a second marker at 3:37 of the secon dperiod for a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Augsburg's Jarod Blackowiak scored at 8:01 of the third period for a 3-0 lead but was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct after the goal, and St. Norbert converted on the ensuing power play when
Liam Fraser scored his first collegiate goal just 32 seconds later.
Peter Bates and
Mitchell Zambon assisted on the goal.
St. Norbert had 1:36 of empty-net time at the end of the game but didn't draw closer.
The Green Knights were outshot by Augsburg 29-28, including 10-4 in the first period. St. Norbert was 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Auggies were 0-for-1.
Johnny Roberts made 26 saves for St. Norbert, while Jack Robbel made 27 stops for Augsburg.
