EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to six with a solid 6-1 win over UW-Eau Claire to sweep the two-game non-conference series at Hobbs Ice Arena.
The Green Knights (7-3) scored two goals in all three periods to cruise to the win and finish a stretch of eight road games in their last nine played.
St. Norbert jumped ahead 2-0 in the first period when
Carter Hottmann scored at 7:06 and
Brendan Mark followed at 12:21. It was Hottmann's third goal of the season, while Mark's marker was his second of the year.
Brock Baker then tallied a power-play goal at 3:58 of the second period for a 3-0 lead. Eau Claire's Dawson Klein got the Blugolds on the board at 5:03, but the Green Knights regained their three-goal lead on another Baker goal - his sixth of the season, - this one coming at 8:01. St. Norbert carried its 4-1 lead into second intermission.
The Green Knights salted the game away with a pair of special teams goals in the third period.
Peter Bates rang up a power-play goal for his fifth goal of the season at 9:21, while
Peyton Frantti also registered his fifth goal of the year with a shorthanded goal at 10:26.
Frantti had two assists to finish with a three-point game. Besides Baker's two-point game, Bates added an assist for a multi-point outing.
St. Norbert outshot Eau Claire 33-19, including 24-10 in the first two periods.
Colby Entz made 18 saves for the Green Knights, while Ryan Oullette made 27 saves for Eau Claire.
The Green Knights were 2-for-4 on the power play. Eau Claire was 0-for-1 on the power play, with the Green Knights registering the shorthanded goal after committing their only penalty of the game.
