DE PERE - St. Norbert College got a goal from
Morgan Olson just 20 seconds into overtime to lift the Green Knights to a pulsating 3-2 win over UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (8-2) continued their best-ever start to a season, and has won eight of their last nine contests since dropping their season opener.
Skating in a 3-on-3 overtime session, St. Norbert got possession and
Ava Jaschke's initial drive was stopped by Stevens Point.
Eve Parker redirected the puck and Olson poked home the loose puck into a wide-open net for her 13th goal of the season (see video below for the game-winning goal).
St. Norbert trailed 2-1 entering the third period, but ended up tying the game on
Hannah Hickman's second goal of the season. Her marker at 4:41 of the third period came off assists from Parker and
Natalie Hogan.
Stevens Point took a 1-0 lead after one period when Ashtyn Wiltscheck scored at 17:53. Hogan then posted her fourth goal of the season at 2:55 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1, with Parker assisting. The Pointers then jumped back ahead at 14:00 of the second period on a power-play goal by Nicole Neuberger.
Parker finished with a three-point game with three assists, while Hogan had a goal and assist for two points.
St. Norbert outshot Stevens Point 51-23.
Brynn Waisman made 21 stops in goal for the Green Knights, while Olivia Schultz made 48 saves for the Pointers.
St. Norbert was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 1-for-3.
