DE PERE - St. Norbert College sent its seniors playing their last home game on Senior Day off in style with a convincing 77-7 win over Rockford University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights put up season-high totals in points and total offense, posting 514 yards.
Senior quarterback
Ben Kohl was responsible for six of the Green Knights' 11 touchdowns, passing for four and running for two. Kohl rushed 13 times for a team-high 91 yards while completing 11 of 21 passes for 195 yards and four touchdowns.
St. Norbert scored on its second possession of the game, with Kohl scampering over the goal line from 10 yards out. The Green Knights doubled their lead later in the first quarter when Kohl hit
Parker Lawrence for a 10-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal with 3:57 left in the quarter.
Rockford got its only points of the game when it scored on the first play of the second quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jaelen Rayn to Joey Owens. The Green Knights wasted little time taking control of the game for good, with Kohl finding
Alex Meisenheimer for a 6-yard touchdown pass on the next series. Rockford fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, with St. Norbert recovering on the Rockford 29. The Green Knights needed just seven plays to score on a
David Lox 2-yard run. St. Norbert got another defensive stop and scored another touchdown on a 16-yard pass from Kohl to
Dylan Leschewski for a 35-7 lead that would carry into halftime.
The Green Knights forced another fumble on the second-half kickoff, and on the next play from scrimmage Kohl hit
David Lox for a 31-yard touchdown pass. One series later, St. Norbert went on a 12-play, 57-yard druive to score again on a Kohl 2-yard run and a 49-7 lead.
St. Norbert would score four fourth-quarter touchdowns.
Chris McCartney scored on touchdown runs of 5 and 1 yards,
Kendall Karcz would recover a blocked punt in the end zone, and
Jack Hanauer would score on an 8-yard run.
Delton Zuleger posted 89 yards rushing on 16 carries, while McCartney added 76 rushing yards on eight carries as the Green Knights ran 49 times for 319 yards. Zuleger caught two passes for a team-high 53 yards.
Rockford was held to 201 yards of total offense. Ray completed 16 of 26 passes for 142 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Jaren Yoder and
Lucas Ruechel led St. Norbert with six tackles apiece. A total of 30 different Green Knight players registered a tackle in the game.
