MILWAUKEE - St. Norbert College closed out its regular season with a 6-0 win over Alverno College in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Alverno Soccer Field.
The Green Knights closed the regular season at 10-8-1 and NACC play at 8-4-1, earning the No. 5 seeding for the upcoming NACC Tournament. St. Norbert will travel to face No. 4-seeding Illinois Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 in Chicago.
The match was scoreless midway through the first half until
Abby Thompson connected at 26:11 off an assist from
Katelyn Kane.
Hanna Lech then doubled St. Norbert's lead just 71 seconds later off an assist from
Emma Watters.
Cassie Fredrick then registered her first collegiate goal off a
Kait Schweitzer assist at 39:19 for a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Syd VanWychen scored off an
Emily Names assist at 51:20, followed by Lech with an unassisted marker at 54:54. Lech then closed out the scoring with a goal at 67:41 off a Schweitzer assist.
St. Norbert outshot Alverno 55-2 and the Green Knights had eight corner kicks.
Lilly Collins made one save for the Green Knights, while Kenzie Bermudez turned away 18 shots for the Inferno.
