DE PERE - St. Norbert College qualified for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 2-0 win over Benedictine University at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (9-7-1, 6-3-1 NACC) will play in a first-round NACC Tournament game on Sunday, Oct. 31 at a time and location to be determined.
St. Norbert jumped out to an early lead when
Grace Taylor and
Kait Schweitzer took off on a 2-on-the-goalkeeper opportunity, with Schweitzer feeding to Taylor, whose shot to the right side was true at 11:29. It was Taylor's third goal of the season.
Abby Thompson then registered her team-high 10th goal of the season at 71:02, getting a pass from
Amelia Carlson and then converting by tucking the ball just inside the right post for a 2-0 lead.
St. Norbert outshot Benedictine 8-6 and had a 2-1 nod in corner kicks. The Green Knights had 12 fouls to the Eagles' 10.
Lilly Collins made two saves to record the shutout, while Katherine Prochnow made three stops for Benedictine.
