Val Thoms is in her second year as the full-time assistant coach for St. Norbert College men’s and women’s volleyball in 2025-26. She serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for the men's program along with assisting in all other aspects of both programs.
Thoms, a Menasha native, has extensive experience coaching successful high school and club programs in South Carolina following her playing career at NCAA Division II Converse (S.C.) University.
Thoms took over the girls’ volleyball program at Mauldin High School in 2012, building it from a three-win team in each of her first two seasons into a state champion. Mauldin won eight regional championships, culminating in SCHSL Class AAAAA Upper State and State championships in 2022, posting a 32-7 record. She finished her 10-year tenure at Mauldin 199-90, going 193-66 in her final eight seasons.
Thoms coached at two club programs in South Carolina’s Upstate, coaching at Axis Elite Volleyball Academy and Stars Volleyball Club.
Thoms graduated from Converse in 2012 with a degree in psychology.
