Tripp Maher is in his 16th season as the St. Norbert College men’s golf coach during the 2025-26 season.
In 2024-25, Maher coached senior Nathan Thomson to St. Norbert's first-ever NCAA Division III All-Region Selection.
Maher directed St. Norbert to previously unattained heights in 2013, with the Green Knights claiming their first Midwest Conference (MWC) championship. St. Norbert went on to place 34th at the NCAA Division III Championship, its first national post-season appearance. Maher also coached Nic Vrubley to the MWC individual championship, also the first time a St. Norbert golfer has won an individual conference title.
St. Norbert won its second MWC title in 2015 and again advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Green Knights continued their solid stretch of play by winning their third MWC title in five years in 2017, and had their best-ever finish at the NCAA Championship at 31st place. Maher earned MWC Coach of the Year honors in each of those seasons.
Maher led the Green Knights to a tie for second place at the Midwest Conference Championship in 2012, and was named the league’s Coach of the Year.
Maher, who is also a senior advancement officer at St. Norbert, was a four-year letter-winner in golf for the Green Knights prior to his graduation in 1980. He was the team captain his final two years.
Maher also had two stints as an assistant women’s basketball coach under Connie Tilley, assisting from 1979-85 and 1995-99. The Green Knights advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four in 1985.
