GENEVA, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened its season with two losses to Northern Illinois University by scores of 6-2 and 4-2 in two non-conference games at Fox Valley Ice Arena.  

In the opening game of the season, the Green Knights trailed 1-0 in the first period before Will Mullooly tied the game on a St. Norbert power play at 7:48. The Huskies retook a 3-1 advantage later in the period, but Nicky Cozzi pulled one back at 16:32 to make it 3-2 after the first period.  

The Green Knights were shutout for the remainder of the game, with Northern Illinois scoring twice in the second period and once more in the third.  

Luke Wessel and Sean Yurkov finished the game with one assist apiece. Anders Smith made 49 saves in goal.  

In the second game, Brendan Melzacki tied the game 1-1 at 9:05 in the first period off a Chaz DelMarcelle (pictured) helper. DelMarcelle scored in the second period at 19:20 to tie the game once against at 2-2 before two Huskie goals in the third period ended the contest.  

DelMarcelle had the lone multi-point weekend for the Green Knights. Patrick Boyle made 50 saves in the loss.
