Green Knights Split With Keuka

DAVENPORT, Fla. - St. Norbert College split with Keuka College in its second day in Florida, defeating the Wolves 7-1 in the opening game before being edged 4-3 in the nightcap in a non-conference doubleheader at Northeast Regional Park.

The Green Knights (7-3), who have won six of their last seven games, never trailed in the first game, opening the scoring with four runs in the second inning.

A Zach Bostrand single broke the scoreless game, with Connor LaBar bringing home one more run with a single of his own shortly after. Bostrand scored on a Keuka error to make it 3-0, while Will DeBruin scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Wolves scored one run in the third to trail 4-1, but came no further in threatening the St. Norbert lead. Declan Kane added one run in the fifth while a DeBruin double in the sixth scored Tyler Dean.

DeBruin led with three hits and an RBI hile Kane had two hits and an RBI. Jace Midbon earned the win for the Green Knights, pitching six innings with one strikeout while allowing six hits and no earned runs.

In the nightcap, Matt Schuch gave the Green Knights a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a balk. The Wolves used three runs in the fourth inning to hold a 3-1 lead until a two-run single from Kyle Olson (pictured) in the sixth with the bases loaded tied the game 3-3. Keuka scored the winning run on a walk-off fielder's choice with the bases loaded.

Trey Parsons took the loss for St. Norbert.
