CARLINVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College was narrowly defeated 11-10 by Blackburn College in the weekend's series finale in a non-conference game at Blackburn Baseball Field.  

The Green Knights (1-2) came back from an early 6-1 deficit and eventually held the lead for several innings until the seventh inning when Blackburn scored the game's deciding run.  

Tyler Dean (pictured) opened the scoring for the Green Knights in the first inning with an RBI single before the Beavers scored six in the bottom of the inning. A third home run from Will DeBruin to open his season made it 6-4 in the second, while a pair of RBI doubles from Connor LaBar and Zach Bostrand tied the game 6-6 in the third. A Matt Schuch RBI single in the same inning gave the Green Knights a 7-6 advantage.  

St. Norbert added one run in the fourth but three runs for the Beavers in the bottom of the inning gave Blackburn a 9-8 lead. Dean recorded his second RBI single in the seventh to tie the game, while a second RBI double from LaBar made it 10-9 in favor of the Green Knights. Blackburn scored the winning run off a two-run single shortly after.  

Dean finished the afternoon with four hits and two RBIs. LaBar and Schuch each had two hits. Charlie Gretz took the loss with 4.1 innings pitched and five runs allowed. He struck out six and walked one batter.
