MEQUON – St. Norbert College knocked off Concordia University Wisconsin with a 3-2 upset win in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Semifinal game at Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Green Knights (18-8-2) battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn the road victory and advance to the Slaats Cup Championship.
The Falcons grabbed early momentum with a goal just 58 seconds into the game, before doubling their advantage at 7:46 of the second period.
St. Norbert answered quickly as Claire Healy found the back of the net at 10:33 of the second period off assists from Emma Stebbeds and Sydney Zurawik. Hannah Grabianowski evened the score at 9:49 of the third period, finishing a setup from Grace Wittkopf and Healy to tie the game 2-2. Taylor Lesnar delivered the decisive blow with just 1:10 remaining in regulation, scoring at 18:50 off an assist from Ava Anick.
The Falcons went on the power-play just 10 seconds after Lesnar's go-ahead goal, but the Green Knights held on through the final minute to seal the win and advance to the finals.
Concordia outshot St. Norbert 35-29. Tanith Plachetka made 33 saves in goal for the Green Knights, while Gretchen Paaverud made 26 for the Falcons.
St. Norbert went 0-for-2 on the powerplay and Concordia went 0-for-5.
The Green Knights will take on Adrian College next Saturday at 6 p.m. CST in the Slaats Cup Championship at Arrington Ice Arena.
