Conversions Cost Green Knights

DE PERE – St. Norbert College was held back by several key conversions from UW-Stevens Point, falling 2-0 in a non-conference game at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (0-3) were put on the back foot early, with Taylor Wilson making three saves in the opening 10 minutes. Kaelei Garrity had St. Norbert's best look on goal in the first half, with her shot being saved at 12:47.

At 35:41, the Pointers received a penalty, with the initial shot being saved by Wilson before Piper Hanley converted after a chaotic rush to goal after Wilson's save.

The Green Knights swung some of the momentum after halftime, as Michelle Piro (pictured) nearly equalized at 51:14 if not for a Stevens Point defender heading her looping shot off the line.

The Pointers found themselves with a second penalty opportunity at 75:41, this time converting on the first attempt with a conversion from Paige Ostroushko to make it 2-0.

The Green Knights were outshot 19-4 and trailed 10-1 in corner kicks. Wilson made eight saves for St. Norbert, while Stevens Point's Shea Lucas made three.
