St. Norbert Stymied at Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College battled but was swept by Rockford University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, falling by scores of 4-1 and 4-3 at RU Campus Field.  

The Green Knights (9-27, 8-12 NACC) held early leads in both games before the Regents responded with unanswered runs to down St. Norbert for the sweep.  

Zoe Zasada put the Green Knights on the board in the first inning to score Allison Ardito in the first inning. The Regents tied the game in the third inning before taking the lead in the fifth with three runs.  

Zasada, Ardito, Addison Race and Karleigh Linssen all had one hit. Bailie Thielen took the loss, pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowing six hits and four runs with five strikeouts and seven walks.  

The Green Knights took an early lead once again to open the second game, with a Morgan Hansel 2 RBI double scoring Ardito and Ava Engwall. Hansel recorded a second RBI double in the third inning, scoring Engwall to make it 3-0 in favor of the Green Knights.  

The Regents took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-3 lead, which proved to be the vital turning point in the game as the Green Knights were unable to score again.  

Hansel finished with the lone multi-hit game, going 2-of-3 with 3 RBIs. Addison Maurer took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing five hits and three runs with three walks.
