St. Norbert Falls at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't keep up with Benedictine University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, falling by scores of 5-0 and 10-2 at Weidkamp Field.  

The Green Knights (5-21, 4-6 NACC) struggled in the first game of the afternoon, only being able to produce one hit from Ava Engwall (pictured). The Eagles scored four of their five runs in the opening three innings and added a cushion in the sixth with one more run. Bailie Thielen took the loss, pitching six innings and striking out one.  

St. Norbert got off to a better start in the second game, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to a Benedictine error in the first inning. A Grendel Sprong double made it 2-1 in the third to score Engwall, but a grand slam from the Eagles turned the game on its head as Benedictine moved to a 10-2 win for the sweep.  

Engwall recorded three hits, going 3-of-3 and scoring both St. Norbert runs. Addison Race recorded two hits.  

Addison Maurer took the loss, pitching two innings and allowing three hits and five runs with one strikeout and three walks.
