St. Norbert Opens NACC Slate at Dominican

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference slate with two losses at Dominican University, dropping decisions of 10-0 and 5-3 in a doubleheader at Wintrust Field.

The Green Knights had no response in the opener, falling behind by three runs in the first inning before the Stars scored at least one run in five of the next six innings to fall 10-0.

Devin Geary had a leadoff double for the Green Knights in the first, while Dawson Schmidt had a single in the sixth.

Jace Midbon took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings and allowing 12 hits and six runs with three strikeouts and one walk.

In the second game, the Green Knights came within striking distance of the Dominican lead after trailing 4-1 after five innings. An Evan Calderon (pictured) single RBI scored Will DeBruin in the sixth, while a Matt Perry single scored Dawson Schmidt in the seventh to make it 4-3. However, a home run from Dominican in the bottom of the inning proved to be the difference, as the Stars took the sweep.

Schmidt recorded four hits in five at-bat, while DeBruin recorded three. Perry had the other multi-hit game with two hits and an RBI.

Trevor Reinhardt took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and four runs with two strikeouts.
