Green Knights Conclude Space Coast Games

MELBOURNE, Fla. - St. Norbert College concluded the Space Coast Games with two losses, falling to Millikin University 9-7 and Western Connecticut State 8-4 in two games at Fast Pitch Stadium.  

The Green Knights held the lead for a few innings against Millikin before five runs from the Big Blue in the sixth inning turned the tide of the game.  

Morgan Hansel tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning with an RBI single scoring Zoe Zasada. Doubles from Ava Engwall and Hallei Mleziva in the third scored three runs to give the Green Knights a 4-2 lead. Millikin responded with two runs in the fourth, before St. Norbert added three runs in the sixth to retake a 7-4 lead. The Green Knights scored two runs with the bases loaded on a walk and fielder's choice, while another RBI from Engwall scored Andrianna Volz. However, five runs off five hits from the Big Blue in the bottom of the inning gave Millikin a 9-7 win.  

Engwall finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Morgan Hansel (pictured) had three hits and one RBI. Zasada and Mleziva both finished with two hits.  

Amber Johanek took the loss, allowing two runs and three hits with one walk.  

St. Norbert scored four runs off six hits against Western Connecticut State in the second game of the afternoon and came within one run of the lead in the sixth inning before falling 8-4.  

A Volz RBI double scored Sydney Palladino to tie the game at 1-1 in the third inning. The Wolves scored two more in the fourth to retake a 3-1 lead, before Magdeline Hanmann scored on a sacrifice fly from Karleigh Linssen to make it 3-2 in the fifth. Morgan Jarvi brought home two runs in the sixth, making it 5-4 before the Wolves scored three insurance runs in the seventh to take the win.  

Hansel and Volz both recorded two hits in the loss. Savannah Jandrin took the loss, pitching 1 2/3 innings and allowing three hits and two runs with one strikeout.
