St. Norbert Swept by Central College

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – St. Norbert College closed out its opening weekend with two losses to Central College, being swept by scores of 11-1 and 8-5 at West Liberty High School.

The Green Knights (0-4) struggled to find hits in the first game of the doubleheader, recording just four in the game. After trailing by nine runs after the third inning, St. Norbert recorded its lone run of the day from Devin Geary in the fifth, scoring off an Evan Calderon single into rightfield.

Matt Perry took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing seven hits and nine runs with one walk and one strikeout in 2.2 innings of work.

In the nightcap, the Green Knights got off to a better start as Perry scored off an error by Central as the Green Knights trailed 2-1 in the second inning. Central responded with three runs in the fourth. Another Calderon single brought home A.J. Kisting in the fifth to give St. Norbert a lifeline at 5-2. Two home runs resulting in three runs saw an end to St. Norbert's attempt at a comeback. A Trevor Reinhardt (pictured) single did score two runs in the ninth, but it was too little too late for the Green Knights.

Will DeBruin recorded the lone multi-hit game for the Green Knights, recording two.

Luke Steebs took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing 10 hits and seven runs with one strikeout.
