OSHKOSH - A scoring lull in the second half led to St. Norbert College succumbing 88-81 to UW-Oshkosh in a non-conference game at Kolf Sports Center.
The Green Knights (6-3) hung with the up-tempo Titans (8-2) throughout the first half, turning a 29-26 deficit into a 34-29 lead with 5:42 left before halftime thanks to an 8-0 run.
Connor Pytleski had a hoop to get the spurt started, followed by consecutive baskets by
Thomas Meyers (pictured). A
Cole Uhlenbrauck basket gave the Green Knights their largest lead of the game to finish the run. St. Norbert held its last lead after a
Ryan Brown basket to make it 47-46 with 1:03 left. An Oshkosh trey gave the Titans a 49-47 halftime lead.
Scoring slowed down in the second half, with St. Norbert trailing 57-55 with 11:50 to play following a
Cam Lathos basket, but the Ttians went on a quick 8-0 run to open up a 65-55 edge with 10:!2 left. Oshkosh would eventually build a 15-point lead at 74-59 with 6:45 to go. A late 7-0 run by St. Norbert got the deficit down to 82-77 with 1:01 to go, but the Titans held off the Green Knights in the final minute.
St. Norbert shot 29-for-62 (46.8 percent) from the floor but was 15-for-26 (57.7 percent) at the free-throw line. Cox led the Green Knights with 18 points, while Lathos and Pytleski each added 14 points.
Will Stuckey had 12 points and seven assists. The Green Knights held a 39-37 rebounding advantage.
Oshkosh shot 46.2 percent (46.2 percent) and was 13-for-37 (35.1 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Joey LaChapell led the Titans with 22 points.
