DE PERE – St. Norbert College was held in check with a 75-48 loss to Carroll University to cap off the annual Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.
The Green Knights (0-2) were held to a lowly shooting day against the Pioneers and trailed for most of the game, getting just under 30 percent of their shots to fall.
Despite the result, St. Norbert started off hot with four makes on four attempts before Carroll started to take advantage in the contest. A trey from Rose Hahn made it a 15-14 game with 4:15 left in the first quarter, which is the closest the Green Knights got to the lead in the remainder of the game.
Carroll held a 14-point lead at halftime with a score of 41-27. A 5-0 run from St. Norbert cut the deficit down to nine points following a three from Olivia Conway, but a lengthy 15-1 run from the Pioneers put the game out of reach going into the fourth, where Carroll held more than a 20-point lead in the final 10 minutes.
St. Norbert shot 29.6 percent (16-for-54) from the floor. Avery Bierowski led the Green Knights with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor Thiry (pictured) had eight points and six rebounds. Hahn and Kat Miller each had eight points.
Additionally, Thiry was named to the all-tournament team.
Carroll shot 48.1 percent (26-for-54) from the floor. Emilie Wizner led the Pioneers with 22 points.
