DE PERE - St. Norbert College put up 59 points in the first half en route to a 96-71 win over Lakeland University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (2-2, 1-0 NACC) jumped out to a 59-40 halftime lead and eventually led by as many as 32 points in the second half.
St. Norbert fell behind 13-5 in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game as Lakeland scored on its first five possessions. The Green Knights went on a 14-4 run over the next 3:48 to take a 19-17 lead, their first of the game. Lakeland hit a 3-pointer at the 12:33 mark for its last lead at 20-19. Following a 22-22 tie, St. Norbert went went on a 13-0 run to take control of the game, a streak jumpstarted by a pair of
Will Stuckey 3-pointers. The Green Knights led 41-32 with 5:48 left before the Green Knights went on an 18-8 run the rest of the half for a 59-40 lead at the break.
The Green Knights went on a 12-0 run to open the second half to deliver the knockout blow, with Stuckey and
Connor Pytleski scoring five points apiece during the run that saw St. Norbert lead 71-40 with 17:35 remaining.
St. Norbert shot 57.6 percent (38-for-66) from the floor and was 22 of 32 (68.8 percent) in the second half. The Green Knights also held a commanding 47-29 rebounding advantage. Stuckey finished with a career-high 23 points, while Pytleski added 16 points and
Mason Freiburger 10 points.
Reid Rosseland (pictured) had a game-high seven rebounds.
Lakeland shot 35.8 percent (24-for-67) from the floor. Jaxson Dillon and Asanjai Hunter had 17 points apiece to lead the Muskies.
