DE PERE – St. Norbert College fell in a tightly contested 1-0 loss to Aurora University in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (3-13-2, 3-6-2 NACC) fell behind just 1:37 into the game when Dani Machado Salazar scored the lone goal of the contest on the game's first shot attempt of the night to give the Spartans the win.
Addie Schneider (pictured) had a chance just moments after the Aurora goal, but her short range attempt to chip the Spartans goalkeeper was saved to keep it a one-goal lead. A Mackenzie Schneider free kick and three opportunities from Paige Westerman in the second half came close but to no avail for St. Norbert. Meredith Posanski had another chance in the dying minutes and came all so close to equalizing at 85:17 but her attempt hit the left crossbar after beating the keeper.
Both teams had 10 shots in the game, with St. Norbert leading 8-5 in the second half. Westerman and Addie Schneider led with three attempts while Posnaski had two. Both teams had three corner kicks.
Taylor Wilson made three saves, with two coming in the second half.
