Green Knights Defeat Edgewood, Secure Runner-Up Finish

DE PERE – St. Norbert College concluded its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season with a 4-3 win over Edgewood University in a conference matchup at Green Bay Tennis Center.  

With the win, the Green Knights (7-2, 7-1 NACC) secured second place in the conference standings for the first time since joining the NACC in the 2021-22 season and their first runner-up finish since the 2016-17 season in the Midwest Conference.  

St. Norbert picked up one doubles victory to start the day, with Jordan Domnick and Allison Unverzagt earning a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles over Evelyn Taylor and Hattie Plenty. Edgewood picked up the two other doubles matchups to take the first point of the afternoon.  

The Green Knights won four of six singles contests. Unverzagt (pictured) defeated Plenty 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 at No. 2, while Anna Vechart defeated Sophia Perret at No. 3 7-5, 6-2. Alyssa Tegen won 6-1, 6-4 over Christina Ekkela at No. 5. Madeline Diefenthaler won at No. 6 against Baylee Knott 2-6, 6-3, 6-0.  

Jordan Dominick and Irene Multhauf were narrowly defeated in their contests, with Dominick falling at No. 1 to Taylor 6-2, 2-6, 4-6 and Multhauf lost out to Kaitlyn Narkis 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 at No. 4.  

St. Norbert will have one final date of competition in the fall, taking on UW-Stevens Point next weekend.
