DE PERE – St. Norbert College pulled away early against Concordia University Wisconsin, holding a double-digit lead for most of the contest in a 56-38 win in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.
The Green Knights (10-3, 5-0 NACC) were never troubled by the Falcons, putting distance between their opponent early. St. Norbert started the game on a 10-0 run, with the first three field goals of the first quarter coming from beyond the arc from Rose Hahn, Kalina Winslow and Taylor Thiry (pictured). The Falcons did respond with three 3-pointers of their own and cut the lead to three, with the 12-9 scoreline being the closest the visitors would get to the lead.
St. Norbert was looking to hold a 12-point lead going into the half after a Hahn three with 1:08 left in the second quarter. The Falcons would get a lifeline off an Ava Booth three at the buzzer, with the Green Knights leading 30-21 at the break.
Thiry started the second half on fire, scoring the first seven points for the Green Knights in the third quarter to grow the lead to 37-23 with 6:46 remaining. In total, she scored eight of St. Norbert's 12 points in the period.
The fourth quarter put an exclamation point on the victory, as St. Norbert extended its lead to nearly 20 points.
St. Norbert shot 43.1 percent (22-for-51) from the floor. Thiry led the Green Knights with 17 points and nine rebounds. Emma Morrisey had nine points, while Hahn had eight.
Concordia Wisconsin shot 31.3 percent (15-for-48) from the floor. Aubrey DeBauch led the Falcons with 13 points.
