MONTGOMERY, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a 49-0 loss at No. 19-ranked Aurora University at Spartan Athletic Park.
The Spartans scored touchdowns nine seconds apart just past the midway point of the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead and added another score late in the period for a 21-0 lead after 15 minutes. Aurora scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter for a 42-0 halftime lead. The Spartans scored on a long pass early in the third quarter for the game's final points.
Aurora outgained St. Norbert 351-172.
Austin Miller caught six passes for 31 yards.
Peyton Lyon completed 16 of 33 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown.
Patrick Oden led the Green Knighs on the ground with 75 yards on 15 carries.
Tyler Adkins led Aurora through the air with 289 passing yards, completing 16 of 27 aerials. He also led the Spartans on the ground with 52 yards on nine carries.
Sam Barnett led the St. Norbert defense with seven tackles and two tackles-for-loss.
Ben Heyne had six stops.
Kyle Santos and
Nate Lee each registered a full quarterback sack. Barnett,
Daylan Lujan,
Sean Gilles and
Justin Benoit all registered a half sack.
