GLENDALE - St. Norbert College opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Tournament with a 5-3 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a first-round match at Nicolet High School.
The Green Knights, the No. 5 seeding, will face No. 1 seeding Concordia University Wisconsin in a semifinal match at 4 p.m. Thursday in Mequon.
St. Norbert got off to a good start by taking two of the three doubles points.
Hannah Starr and
Mayghan Bongle won a tiebreaker at No. 1 to top Karley Way and Stephania Gonzales 8-7 (7-4).
Paige Diercks and
Grace McCune then fashioned an 8-6 win over Michaela Haensgen and Emily Gutknecht at No. 3.
In singles action, Starr dispatched Way 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1.
Anna Vechart turned in a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Brenna Sheehan at No. 4.
Abby Moore tripped Haensgen 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5.
