ADRIAN, Mich. - St. Norbert College finished a three-match road trip to lower Michigan with a 1-2 record after splitting a pair of matches at a triangular at Adrian College's Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
The Green Knights opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Adrian by scores of 29-27, 25-17, 25-21 before rebounding to take a 3-2 win over Hiram College 21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 15-7. St. Norbert opened the weekend with a 3-1 loss at the University of Olivet by scores of 25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20.
St. Norbert had a strong offensive showing against Hiram, hitting .350 - the second-highest hitting percentage in a match in program history. The Green Knights totaled 55 kills with just 12 errors in 123 attempts.
The Green Knights trailed just once in the last two sets against the Terriers, building a 17-9 lead in Set 4 and a 9-4 advantage in Set 5.
Kaden Kornaus had 10 kills, while
Logan Crowther had nine kills in nine attempts.
Barry Applewhite and
Wade La Blanc had seven kills apiece.
Michael Whitney had 31 assists, while Crowther had four service aces.
Jackson Corcoran had nine digs, while
Owen Knezevich and Crowther had three blocks apiece.
Against Adrian, St. Norbert hit .144 with 33 kills and 20 errors in 90 attempts. Kornaus had 11 kills and Whitney 27 assists. Corcoran,
Ryan Conway and Kornaus all had seven digs apiece. Corcoran had five blocks and Crowther four.
Against Olivet, the Green Knights hit .186 with 37 kills and 16 errors in 113 attempts. Kornaus finished with 12 kills and Whitney had 22 assists. Crowther posted six blocks.
