St. Norbert to Host St. Olaf in NCAA Tournament Opener

Hockey NCAA GraphicDE PERE – St. Norbert College will host St. Olaf College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Cornerstone Community Center in De Pere.
 
The Green Knights (22-6) earned the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association's automatic qualifier into the 13-team tournament by capturing the Harris Cup Playoffs title with a 3-1 win over Adrian College on Saturday.
 
The Oles (14-11-3) earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over Bethel University this past Saturday.
 
The winner will advance to play the victor of the game between Adrian College (22-6-1) and UW-Stevens Point (21-5-2) in a national quarterfinal on Saturday, March 16 at a site to be determined.
 
This tournament appearance is St. Norbert's 21st, good for second-most all-time in Division III behind Plattsburgh State University's 23. The Green Knights made appearances in 1997-99, 2002-08, 2010-14, 2016-19 and 2022. The Green Knights are 33-15-1 and won the 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018 national championships, with their 33 national tournament wins second to only Middlebury College's 34. St. Norbert is 24-6 in its last 30 NCAA Tournament games dating back to 2008.
 
St. Olaf is making its third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The Oles made their appearances in 2006 and 2022, with the latter culminating in a 4-3 overtime loss at St. Norbert in a 2022 first-round game at Cornerstone Community Center.
 
The Green Knights faced St. Olaf in this season's opener, winning a 4-3 game in Northfield, Minn.
