Green Knights Stopped In NCHA Playoffs Title Game

ADRIAN, Mich. - St. Norbert College couldn't crack the scoring column and eventually dropped a 2-0 decision to Adrian College in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Playoffs championship game at Arrington Ice Arena.

The Green Knights finish their season 21-7-1, setting a school record for wins. Adrian (27-2) earned the NCHA's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Adrian took the lead on a Callie Wollschlager goal at the 13:05 mark of the first period. That goal would be the only goal or penalty in the first 20 minutes of cation.

The Green Knights would go shorthanded after a penalty at 14:13 of the second period, but Adrian would turn it to 4-on-4 with an infraction of its own at 15:39. Both teams would come up empty on their power-play chances with the score holding at 1-0 into second intermission.

St. Norbert had a brief power-play chance at 7:45 of the third but the Green Knights cut their chance short with a penalty at 8:22. The Green Knights then pulled goaltender Brynn Waisman at 18:34, with Adrian's Maya Roy scoring an empty-net goal three seconds laster to salt away the win. St. Norbert then had another penalty at 18:53 with it only getting five more seconds of extra-attacker time the rest of the way.

St. Norbert junior forwards Courtnie Hogan and Natalie Hogan were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Adrian outshot St. Norbert 33-22. Brynn Waisman made 31 saves for the Green Knights, while Michaela O'Brien turned away 22 shots to get the shutout for the Bulldogs.
