DUBUQUE, Iowa - St. Norbert College was swept by the University of Dubuque in a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 8-4 and 5-0 at Runkle Field.
The Green Knights (1-4) got off to a good start in the opener with three runs in the top of the first inning.
Zach Bostrand brought in
Jaden Holgado with an RBI single and
Carson Krumrei followed with a two-out, two-run single to bring home
Trevor Reinhardt and Bostrand.
Dubuque would tie the game with three runs in the second inning. St. Norbert briefly retook the lead on a solo home run by Reinhardt in the third inning, but the Spartans would score two runs in the third, two more in the fourth and one in the eighth to seal the win.
Reinhardt had St. Norbert's lone multi-hit game, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Jace Midbon took the loss, allowing nine hits and seven runs with two walks and five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings pitched.
In the nightcap, St. Norbert had five hits, all singles, and drew just one walk. Dubuque one run in the second inning, twice in the third, once in the fourth and once in the eighth to pull away.
Danny Heise took the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs with five walks and two strikeouts in four innings pitched.
St. Norbert concludes its three-game series with the Spartans at 1 p.m. Sunday.
