MILWAUKEE - St. Norbert College fell behind early and never recovered in a 78-62 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran College in the championship game of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament at Time of Grace Center.
Wisconsin Lutheran (24-4) jumped out ot a 10-0 lead four minutes in. The Green Knights (22-6) would go on a 10-2 run to get back to within 12-10 with 13:16 left in the half, but the Warriors would eventually build a 29-19 lead with 3:13 left in the period. Wisconsin Lutheran led 32-24 at halftime.
St. Norbert would get to within three at 38-35 with 16:33 to go after a pair of
Carter Gebler free throws, but a 9-0 run by Wisconsin Lutheran over the next 3:33 gave the host a 47-35 lead. The Green Knights would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
St. Norbert shot 38.3 percent (23-for-60) from the floor and 5-for-21 (23.8 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.
Garrett Grzesk led the Green Knights with 15 points, while
Connor Pytleski had 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Gebler had 12 points and five rebounds.
Gebler and
Evan Glaser were named to the NACC All-Tournament Team.
Wisconsin Lutheran shot 42.1 percent (24-for-59) from the floor and was 22-for-25 (88 percent) at the free-throw line. AJ Vos led the Warriors with 21 points.
