DE PERE – St. Norbert College rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half, with Casey Jepson netting a career-high 22 points to help the Green Knights defeat Carroll University 69-65 in a non-conference game at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.
The Green Knights (7-2) earned another resume building win, as they went on a 15-0 run in the third quarter after trailing by seven at halftime and 10 at the start of the second half.
The first three buckets for St. Norbert were from beyond the arc, as Jepson and Kalina Winslow helped St. Norbert get off to a 9-7 lead in the first quarter. The Green Knights led by as many as four points several times in the opening period, but the Pioneers were able to tie the game before end of the quarter. Another Jepson three pointer with 1:54 left in the second quarter gave St. Norbert a three-point lead, its largest in the quarter. However, a 10-point run by Carroll to end the half gave the visitors a 36-29 lead.
The Pioneers would grow their lead to 10 to open the half. St. Norbert was able to respond with a pair of treys from Taylor Thiry and Winslow, but Carroll found layups to continue their extended lead. In the last five minutes of the period, the Pioneers would lose the grip on the lead as the Green Knights went on a 15-0 run to take a 51-46 lead to the final quarter.
Most of the points in the fourth quarter were scored from the free throw line by both teams, but Jepson continued her career day with her sixth triple of the day with just over six minutes remaining.
Carroll would get as close as three points with a minute remaining, but the Green Knights would see out the victory to end 2024.
St. Norbert shot 49 percent (24-for-49) from the floor. The Green Knights made 11 three pointers on 19 attempts, shooting 57.9 percent from beyond the arc. St. Norbert was outrebounded 37-30 by Carroll.
Along with Jepson's career afternoon, Winslow and Thiry both had 11 points. Macey Mercer added eight points.
The Pioneers shot 38.7 percent (24-for-62) from the field. Natalie Gricius and Olivia Rangel both had 17 points for Carroll, with Gricius grabbing 13 rebounds for a double-double.
