DE PERE - St. Norbert College's power play continued to stay hot as the Green Knights cruised to a 5-0 win over the University of Dubuque in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights were 3-for-5 with the man advantage, and coupled with a 4-for-5 night in the series opener went 7-for-10 on the weekend. St. Norbert is 9-for-18 (50 percent) on the power play so far this season.
St. Norbert scored late in the first period for the game's first goal, when
Calvin Hanson took a centering feed directly out front and scored his third goal of the season for a power-play marker at 17:51.
The Green Knights registered three second-period goals to pull away.
Braden Lindstrom's wrister from the high slot was good for a power-play goal at 5:45.
T.J. Koufis then redirected a shot from the point for a power-play goal of his own at 7:42.
Carter Hottmann then scored on a breakaway 60 seconds later for a 4-0 lead. The goals were the first for Lindstrom and Koufis this season, while Hottmann's score was his second. St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 23-4 in a dominant second period.
Gustav Portillo then powered in a puck from out front at 8:17 of the third period for the game's final goal.
Portillo posted three points with one goal and two assists, while Hanson also had one goal and two assists for a three-point game. Lindstrom and Koufis each had one goal and one assist for two points.
Mark Snarr had two assists for two points.
St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 54-14.
Grant Adams turned away all 14 shots to register the shutout. Ryan Piros made 49 saves for the Spartans.
The Green Knights did not commit a penalty, marking only the second time in program history they have played a game with no infractions.
