St. Norbert Charges Back In Overtime Thriller

DE PERE - St. Norbert College came back from a two-goal deficit to win the first game in a key Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series against Aurora University with a 3-2 overtime victory at Cornerstone Community Center.

The No. 2-ranked Green Knights (8-0, 5-0 NCHA) continued their best start to a season in 11 years after Liam Fraser stuffed home the puck past a prone Aurora goaltender Jacob Mucitelli at 2:31 of overtime. Fraser took a pass from Dayton Deics on a 2-on-1 chance and then battled the puck just over the goal line for his second overtime game-winning goal in as many outings, dealing fifth-ranked Aurora (6-1, 4-1) its first loss of the season.

St. Norbert had to battle back from a two-goal deficit. Following a scoreless first period, the Spartans got a pair of goals from Landry Schmuck at 3:03 and 4:39 of the second period for a quick 2-0 lead. The Green Knights got one back when Fraser scored at 12:18. St. Norbert then got a huge momentum boost when Logan Dombrowsky (pictured) snapped home a wrister from the slot for a power-play goal with 0.9 seconds left in the second period for a 2-2 tie.

The Green Knights continued to push hard in the third period but couldn't find the pay window against Mucitelli. St. Norbert outshot Aurora 53-29 for the game, with Mucitelli finishing with a whopping 50 saves. Hunter Garvey made 27 stops for the Green Knights.

Fraser figured in on all three St. Norbert goals, scoring twice with one assist. Fraser now has 65 career goals, tying him for third on St. Norbert's career list with Peter Bates. He also has 139 career points, which puts him sixth all-time.

Dombrowsky was also in on all three St. Norbert goals, with one goal and two assists.

St. Norbert finished 1-for-4 on the power play, while Aurora was 0-for-1. The Green Knights committed just one penalty in the game after not committing any in each of its last two games.
