Second-Period Flurry Pushes Green Knights Past Vikings

DE PERE - Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert College scored three goals in the first four minutes of the second period and went on to claim a 7-1 win over Lawrence University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

St. Norbert (15-4-1, 10-0-1 NCHA) outshot Lawrence 14-4 in the first 20 minutes but couldn't connect on the scoreboard despite a pair of power-play opportunities. The Green Knights didn't wait long to take control in the second period, eventually scoring five times in the middle 20 minutes.

Maddux Federici scored just 31 seconds into the second period to give the Green Knights the lead. Emme Coquet then registered her first collegiate goal when she scored at 3:05. St. Norbert went ahead 3-0 just 39 seconds later when Lexi Bonfe found the net at 3:44. The Green Knights added to their lead when Grace Wittkopf scored at 14:07 and Abbie Tollefson followed at 17:39 to finish off the big five-goal uprising.

Lawrence scored its only goal when Lauren Askenazy finished at 1:28 of the third period. The Green Knights got the goal back when Courtnie Hogan scored shorthanded at 8:05 for her 12th goal of the season. Bonfe then scored at 14:56 to move back into a tie with Hogan for the team lead in goals with 12.

Bonfe had an assist along with her two goals for a three-point game. Morgan Olson had three assists for three points, while Wittkopf had one goal and one assist for two points. Fifteen of St. Norbert's 19 skaters ended up on the scoresheet with at least one point.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 50-20. Ashley Ommen made 19 saves for the Green Knights. Sydney Seeley made 33 saves in the first two periods for Lawrence, while Sarah Dobrzynski made 10 saves in the third period.

St. Norbert was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Lawrence was 0-for-3.
