STEVENS POINT - A slow start put St. Norbert College into an early 2-0 hole and the Green Knights couldn't recover in a 3-1 non-conference loss to UW-Stevens Point at Berg Gym.
The Green Knights (3-3) fell to the Pointers 25-13, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23.
Stevens Point got off to a quick start in Set 1 with leads of 5-0 and 11-4. The Pointers then snapped a 6-6 tie in Set 2 with a 7-0 run to take control. The Green Knights got back to within 15-13 but the Pointers held on to take a 2-0 lead. St. Norbert never trailed in the third set but saw its lead dwindle to 18-17, but the Green Knights went on a 7-2 run to win the set. The Green Knights held leads of 21-19 and 23-22 in Set 4, but the Pointers would score the final three points to clinch the win.
St. Norbert hit .102 for the match, with 41 kills and 28 errors in 128 attempts.
Owen Knezevich had 11 kills, while
Logan Crowther added nine and
Kade Nelson eight.
Michael Whitney had 37 assists.
Ryan Conway totaled 19 digs, while
Mason Werner added seven. Crowther had three blocks, while
Bennett Kornaus and
Jackson Corcoran had two each.
