DE PERE - With over a foot of freshly fallen snow on campus in the previous 24 hours, it would have been a good time for a winterfest at St. Norbert College. But it was a foulfest that the Green Knights had to survive with an 87-58 win over Concordia University Chicago in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
A total of 55 fouls were called in the tightly whistled game, with both teams reaching the bonus in all four quarters. St. Norbert shot 46.7 percent (28-for-60) from the floor and Concordia shot 28.6 percent (16-for-56) to ultimately prove the difference. St. Norbert held a 33-26 lead with 6:26 left in the second quarter before closing out the quarter on a 16-7 run.
Rose Hahn's 3-pointer pushed the Green Knights out front 46-32 with 2:43 left in the quarter and she followed with another hoop for a 16-point lead with 1:13 to go. St. Norbert led 49-33 at halftime.
Concordia would get to within 12 at 55-43 with 5 minutes left in the third quarter, but a 10-0 run over the next 4:22 for the Green Knights on a
Chloe Gruszynski basket, four
Emma Morrisey free throws, an
Oakley Witteck basket and a pair of
Kalina Winslow free throws put St. Norbert ahead 65-43. The Green Knights led 67-47 after three quarters.
St. Norbert never saw its lead dip below 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Hahn and Morrisey each had 15 points to lead the Green Knights, while
