DE PERE - St. Norbert College faculty athletics representative Dr. Charley Jacobs has been named NCAA Division III Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year by the Faculty Athletics Representatives Association (FARA).

Jacobs, a Professor of Public Law, Judicial Process and American Politics, has been on the St. Norbert faculty since August 2007 and has been the faculty athletics representative (FAR) since August 2012.

"I am honored to receive this award," Jacobs said. "I am fortunate to work in collaboration with the excellent athletic staff at St. Norbert College, the NCAA and academic partners on campus who all help to ensure the academic welfare of our student-athletes."

The FAR provides oversight and advice regarding the administration of the intercollegiate athletics program. The FAR also serves as a liaison between the student-athletes and the faculty at-large. The FAR also handles any issues related to the relationship between academics and athletics, including student-athletes, staff and faculty.

"Dr. Jacobs is everything that you could ask for in a faculty athletic representative," St. Norbert athletics director Cam Fuller said. "This award is indicative of the time, support and leadership that he provides not only our student-athletes and coaches, but to the various St. Norbert and NCAA committees he serves on."

Jacobs will receive the award at the FARA annual meeting on Thursday, November 16, in Indianapolis.
