Green Knights Bats Cooled At Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College couldn't get much going offensively and dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Marian University by scores of 4-3 and 3-1 at Herr-Baker Field.

The Green Knights took a lead in the opener when they scored a run in the top of the third inning on a Sebastien Dubois RBI single. The run held up until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Sabres pushed a run across on a pair of hits. St. Norbert would take a 3-1 lead with two runs in the top of the seventh, with two runs scoring on a two-run single by Dubois.

Marian would answer with two runs on a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh and then scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a relay throw.

St. Norbert had 10 hits but stranded 10 runners. Dubois was 3-for-5 with three runs batted in, while Trevor Reinhardt was 2-for-5. Luke Steebs took the loss in one inning of relief. Jace Midbon had a no-decision, going seven innings and allowing seven hits with two runs and four strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Marian got a run in the bottom of the second but the Green Knights scored in the third on a Reinhardt sacrifice fly. The Sabres scored single unearned runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead and hold it for the win.

St. Norbert finished with three hits. Sam O'Leary took the loss with one inning of relief.
