DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior guard Michael Payant has been named second team All-Region 8 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the organization announced today.

Payant, a Pewaukee native and Kettle Moraine High School graduate, was recently named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NACC choice.

Payant led St. Norbert in scoring and rebounding at 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. His 217 total rebounds were the most for any St. Norbert player since 1976, and he anchored a defense that led the NACC in scoring defense at 63.5 points per game.

St. Norbert finished 20-8 overall and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Green Knights also claimed NACC regular-season and tournament championships.
