Match Recap: Men’s Tennis |

Two Dual Wins Lead to Weekend Sweep

DE PERE - St. Norbert College's men's tennis team finished off a busy weekend of dual matches by going 4-0 thanks to a pair of close wins over St. Mary's University and UW-Stevens Point in non-conference matchups at Green Bay Tennis Center.

The Green Knights (4-2) topped the Cardinals and Pointers both by 5-4 scores.

St. Norbert got one doubles point against St. Mary's, when Brett Daniels and Adam Stacho beat Evan Huemoeller and E.J. Hietala 8-2 at No. 1.

The Green Knights rallied with four singles wins. Daniels defeated Huemoeller 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, while Stacho won a third-set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 12-10 at No. 2. David Vandenberg gained a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brendon Raabolle at No. 5, and Brian Coulter bested Caden Rodning 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.

The Green Knights then avenged a 5-4 loss to Stevens Point during the fall by eking out a close victory. St. Norbert picked up two doubles points for an early 2-1 lead. Vandenberg and Joe Pellechia beat Hayden Schreier and Connor Paullin 8-7 (7-5) at No. 2. Coulter and Josh Brown beat Dan Harris and Austin Kahl 8-4 at No. 3.

St. Norbert's three singles wins held off the Pointers. Vandenberg topped Paullin 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, while Coulter tripped Harris 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 at No. 5. Brown dispatched Kahl 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
