Box Score MADISON - St. Norbert College had a proficient offensive performance en route to an 86-66 win over Edgewood College in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The win, St. Norbert's tenth in a row, gave the Green Knights a share of the NACC title with Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Green Knights (17-7, 14-3) have won 11 conference titles in the last 14 years. St. Norbert will be the No. 2 seeding for the NACC Tournament and will host a semifinal game at 7 p.m. Friday at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
St. Norbert's only deficit was an early 2-0 score, with a quick 8-0 run fueled by a pair of
Aidan Harrington 3-pointers putting the Green Knights ahead 8-2. The Eagles would come back to tie it at 12-12 but St. Norbert would go on a 14-4 run to take control, leading 26-16 on a
Carter Gebler jumper. A
Jamison Nickolai 3-pointer gave St. Norbert a 31-20 lead, and
Evan Glaser's basket put the visitor ahead 33-20 with 4:44 left. The Green Knights led 37-25 at halftime.
Edgewood's Adam Baierl connected on a 3-pointer to open the second half, the only time in the final 20 minutes the Eagles were within single digits. St. Norbert quickly answered with a conventional three-point play and 3-pointer from
Michael Payant and two free throws from Glaser to lead 45-28 at the 18:17 mark. The Green Knights kept a lead of at least 12 points until pulling away, taking a 64-44 lead with 9:46 left on a 3-pointer from Gebler. The lead only dipped below 15 points the rest of the way.
St. Norbert shot 53.3 percent (32-for-60) from the floor, including 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Gebler finished with a career-high 24 points, while Payant was two points shy of a career high with 23 points and added 11 rebounds. Glaser had 12 points.
Edgewood shot 40 percent (22-for-55) from the floor. Jake Schroeckenthaler led the Eagles with 29 points, while Baierl added 11 points.
