DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't slow down Adrian College in a 6-1 loss in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (14-8-2, 11-5-1 NCHA) and Bulldogs (19-3-2, 13-3-1) will both wrap up the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Green Knights are currently tied for second place with Aurora University with 36 points and are ahead of Trine University by two points with three points left at stake.
St. Norbert had a solid first period, outshooting the Bulldogs 9-7 but the visitor led 1-0 after 20 minutes. Adrian scored when Riley Murphy got a long rebound off the glass on a St. Norbert shot and skated in to score unassisted at 7:20 of the period.
The Bulldogs erupted for three goals in the second period for a 4-0 lead. Zachary Heintz scored at 4:12, followed by a Ty Enns goal at 12:34 and Sam Ruffin at 16:25.
Adrian scored a power of third-period power-play goals when Ruffin scored at 11:32 and Enns at 14:43. St. Norbert got on the board when
Adam Stacho scored off a
Michael McChesney faceoff win at 15:43 of the third.
Adrian outshot St. Norbert 30-29.
Johnny Roberts made 24 saves for the Green Knights, while Nic Tallarico had 28 stops for the Bulldogs.
St. Norbert was 0-for-2 on the power play, while Adrian was 2-for-3.
