St. Norbert Runs to Win at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College scored more points than it ran offensive plays in posting a 56-7 win over Concordia University Chicago in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Concordia Stadium.

The Green Knights ran 53 offensive plays, with 46 runs, but averaged 7.6 yards per play in putting up 404 yards of total offense. St. Norbert put up 360 rushing yards on 46 attempts, netting 7.8 yards per run.

St. Norbert (6-3, 5-2 NACC) scored on the opening possession of the game, with Delton Zuleger scoring from 12 yards out just about four minutes into the game. The Green Knights took a 14-0 lead later in the period when Owen Kudick scored from four yards out with 4:06 left in the quarter.

The Green Knights turned a Marc Thomas interception into points when Kudick scored his second rushing touchdown of the game, this one from 15 yards out with 5:26 left before halftime. St. Norbert added to its lead when it recovered a fumble on the next play from scrimmage. The Green Knights needed four plays to score on a 2-yard run by Patrick Oden with 3:14 left before halftime.

St. Norbert had the ball just 1:11 in the third quarter but scored two touchdowns. Kudick scored on an 8-yard run 2:40 into the third quarter and Oden broke off a 75-yard touchdown run with 6:48 left for a 42-0 lead.

Concordia scored on the second play of the fourth quarter, with Colton Bosch hitting Gabe Dace on a 6-yard touchdown pass on fourth down. St. Norbert responded with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Chase Cassel to Hunter Thiel. The Green Knights then recovered a fumble deep in Concordia territory and scored its last touchdown on a 24-yard run by Oden with 9:38 remaining.

Oden finished with 182 rushing yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns, an average of 13.0 yards per carry. Kudick had 120 rushing yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns.

Concordia finished with 256 yards of total offense. Bosch completed 10 of 17 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown to lead the Cougars.

Sam Barnett and Kyle Santos led the Green Knights with 10 tackles apiece.
