Green Knights Trim Edgewood In Rout

DE PERE - St. Norbert College continued its unbeaten start to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with an impressive 85-55 triumph over Edgewood College on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (9-3, 5-0 NACC) scored at least 22 points in each of the first three quarters en route to the comfortable win.

Edgewood (5-7, 2-3) had leads of 3-0 and 5-4 but it was all St. Norbert after that. The Green Knights led 9-8 before going on a 13-0 run to take firm control. Kaycee Gierczak got the run started with a conventional three-point play, followed by a 3-pointer from Casey Jepson. Jepson then hit a basket and Gierczak a layup for a 19-8 lead, and Olivia DeCleene's shot from distance put the Green Knights up 22-8 with 2:12 left in the quarter. St. Norbert led 24-15 at the end of the period.

St. Norbert led 26-19 three minutes into the second quarter before going on an 18-2 run that saw the Green Knights' lead balloon into a 44-21 advantage. Rose Hahn had seven points during the skein and Gierczak contributed six points. DeCleene's driving layup with 4 seconds left put the Green Knights up 50-25 at halftime.

St. Norbert never led by less than 24 points in the second half and eventually built a lead as large as 38 points in the fourth quarter.

The Green Knights shot 35-for-75 (46.7 percent) from the floor and held a commanding 46-33 rebounding advantage. Gierczak had a game-high 18 points, while DeCleene added 16 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Jepson chipped in 14 points and Emma Morrisey had 13 points with five rebounds and four assists. St. Norbert had just nine turnovers.

Edgewood shot 39.3 percent (22-for-56) from the floor. Kallie Norby was the only Eagle in double figures with 11 points.
