KOKOMO, Ind. - St. Norbert College opened its 2022 campaign with a non-conference doubleheader against Anderson University, getting swept by scores of 11-4 and 20-11 at Champions Field.

St. Norbert got off to a good start in the opener when Sebastien Dubois slammed a two-run triple to plate Isaac Gerhardt and Adam Cootway. Dubois later scored on a Keagan McCarthy groundout for a 3-0 lead.

Anderson got a run back in the bottom of the first but the Green Knights went ahead 4-1 in the top of the third inning when Cootway scored from third base on a passed ball.

The Ravens would scored twice in their half of the third to cut the deficit to 4-3, and the score would hold there until Anderson scored three runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to pull away.

St. Norbert had three hits in the opener, with Dubois going 2-for-5. Aiden Trusky took the loss, allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert got three runs in the top of the first on a Gerhardt solo home run, a Dubois RBI double and a Luke Follmann sacrifice fly. The Ravens would get three runs back in the first before St. Norbert got two runs in the third on a Follman two-run single for a 5-3 lead. St. Norbert boosted its lead to 7-3 in the fourth inning on a Nick Volz two-run home run.

Anderson got four runs in the fourth to tie it at 7-7. St. Norbert got two runs in the sixth on a Cootway run-scoring triple and a Dubois one-run single. The Ravens got four runs in the sixth to take an 11-9 lead, but St. Norbert tied it 11-11 in the seventh on a Gerhardt RBI groundout and another RBI triple from Cootway. Anderson would score eight runs in the bottom of the seventh and one run in the eighth to pull away.

Cootway was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Dubois was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Gerhardt was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Volz was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Caden Uhlenbrauck was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Green Knights, who had 17 hits.
