WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - St. Norbert College had a happy getaway day on its last day in Florida, pounding out 21 hits in an 18-2 triumph over Knox College at Chain of Lakes Park.
St. Norbert (3-7) took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning, with
Sebastien Dubois plating
Isaac Gerhardt on a sacrifice fly. The Green Knights then broke the game open with a six-run second inning.
Luke Follmann drove in the first run with a single, and Erik Kramer's triple boosted the score to 3-0. Gerhardt drove in a run with a single, and Dubois then drove in two runs with a single.
Nick Volz's RBI single gave St. Norbert a 7-0 lead.
The Green Knights added three more runs in the third inning, with
Adam Cootway bringing in a run on a sacrifice fly and Dubois and
Caden Uhlenbrauck adding RBI singles for a 10-0 lead. St. Norbert added two runs in the fifth inning on a Dubois RBI single and a
Trevor Cornell sacrifice fly for a 12-0 lead.
Knox scored twice in the top of the sixth, but the Green Knights scored six times in the bottom half of the inning to put the game away. Cootway had a two-run double, followed by a two-run single from Dubois.
Nathan Rodriguez had a sacrifice fly, and Sem O'Leary added a run-scoring single.
Dubois finished 4-fof-4 with two runs scored and seven RBI, while Cootway was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored with three RBI. Gerhardt was 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Kramer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while O'Leary was 2-for-2.
Aiden Trusky earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings allowing one hit with three walks and six strikeouts.
